Shofu Hy-Bond Resiglass is a resin-modified glass ionomer (RMGI) cement that is radiopaque and built for strong, long-lasting adhesion. It’s well-suited for securing various types of restorations, including metal-ceramic, full metal, and metal-free crowns, bridges, inlays, onlays, and both metal and ceramic orthodontic brackets. Its advanced formula provides high bond strength, low solubility, and tight sealing at the margins, which contributes to the durability of the restoration. The radiopacity helps in clearly identifying the cement in X-rays after treatment, and the slow release of fluoride supports enamel repair and protects against future decay. With a smooth texture and user-friendly handling, it ensures accurate and efficient placement.

  • Step 1 – Clear Temporary Material:
Carefully take out any temporary filling from the cavity. Rinse the area well with water and dry it completely.
  • Step 2 – Apply Pulp Protection (Pulp Capping):
If the cavity is quite deep and close to the pulp, apply calcium hydroxide to protect it before proceeding.

  • Step 3 – Clean the Area for Restoration:
Make sure the surface where the cement will be applied is clean and free of debris.

  • Step 4 – Measure Powder and Liquid:
Use the standard mixing ratio: 1.6 grams of powder to 1 gram of liquid.

  • Step 5 – Mix the Cement:
Combine the powder and liquid on a mixing pad using a plastic spatula for about 20 seconds. The cement remains workable for around 3 minutes and 30 seconds and fully sets in 7 minutes.

  • Step 6 – Remove Excess Cement:
Once the excess cement becomes rubbery (after about 2 minutes 30 seconds to 3 minutes 30 seconds), gently remove it with an appropriate dental instrument.
